Now Accepting G4G16 Scholarship Applications!

Thanks to generous donations, G4G is pleased to announce the return of our Scholarship Program, which will provide financial assistance to help individuals attending the 16th Gathering 4 Gardner conference. (Please Note: Scholarships are primarily for adults ages 18 and above. To request an exception contact support@g4gfoundation.org.)

Scholarship Criteria:

These scholarships are intended to broaden access and bring people from a range of backgrounds into the G4G community. The review committee will give preference to applicants who show strong interest in the interdisciplinary aspects of Martin Gardner’s legacy (math, magic, puzzles, science, skepticism, literature) and whose unique backgrounds and perspectives will enrich our community. We especially encourage people in the following groups to apply:

  • Women
  • Young adults (ages 18+)
  • People in other underrepresented groups
  • People who require financial support to attend

Scholarship Options & Details:

G4G is offering two levels of scholarship:

  • Full Scholarship – This covers conference registration, both dinner/show tickets, Hyatt hotel room for 4 nights of the conference, and up to $500 travel reimbursement (receipts must be provided).
  • Registration Waiver – This covers conference registration and both dinner/show tickets, it does NOT cover hotel or travel. This is a great option for local attendees and for those who can stay with friends/family nearby.

We have limited funds available, so please apply for only the scholarship option you need in order to attend. If you apply for a Full Scholarship and all of the slots are already filled, you may be offered a Registration Waiver instead.

Around 60 total scholarships will be awarded based on the level of interest and applicant responses.

Scholarships are available to local San Francisco attendees, attendees from the USA, and international attendees. However, please note that travel reimbursements are the same for USA and international attendees. A smaller pool of funds is available for international scholarship recipients and may be offered on a case by case basis.

Scholarship Recipient Commitment:

All scholarship recipients are expected to:

  • Volunteer up to 3 hours of their time to help run the conference. Details of your volunteer assignment will be arranged individually.
  • Bring the spirit of G4G to your home community. For example, help run a Celebration of Mind (CoM) during the upcoming calendar year. Support and free activities for hosting a CoM event can be found on our Host a CoM webpage.
