Friday News Apr 10: Weekly Socials, Virtual CoMs

  • G4G Weekly Socials

Our weekly Socials are held on Sunday at 1 pm Atlanta time (check the time for you here). We are using the Zoom Meeting platform here (not Zoom Webinar as we do for our monthly CoM presentations on the 21st). So for these Saturday socials we will all be able to see each other.
    Upcoming Sessions:
Sun 12 Apr – Tiago Hirth with “Mathematical Games”
We will take a quick look at the recreational mathematics literature and then discuss what meaning mathematical game can hold.
Sun 19 Apr – Jeanette Shakalli with “Toothpick Puzzles”
Explore fun number sequence challenges and colorful toothpick puzzles with Dr. Jeanette Shakalli, Executive Director of the Panamanian Foundation for the Promotion of Mathematics (FUNDAPROMAT). Come join us to discover the beauty and richness of mathematics while we immerse ourselves in the joy of play.
We welcome theme suggestions for the G4G Weekend Socials. Would you like to lead such a social, perhaps with a fresh look at a favorite Martin Gardner column (or book)? A  piece on critical thinking? A miscellaneous theme? Please contact us. All information can be found here.
  • Virtual Celebration of Mind

We continue our series of online seminars, Virtual Celebration of Mind, that started in 2020. The sessions are at 12 noon Atlanta time (check your time here) held on zoom webinar, here.

Tuesday April 21, at 12 noon ET, Atlanta Local Time, we return for another Virtual Celebration of mind. The title of this month’s presentation is “Tours of Tours by Robert Bosch. This presentation will happen on Zoom Webinar. We’ll also meet in another Zoom Room, where everyone will be able to see each other, right after this presentation.

  • G4G15 Videos

As for past G4Gn videos of the flash talks presented at the Gathering will be shared publicly on the web. We are uploading new videos weekly to our YouTube channel. You can find the latest videos here.

  • G4G Tributes

We continue to update and maintain multiple tribute pages. In this we hope to honour and remember the many who have made the G4G community the remarkable group it is. As well as to inspire and connect those who build on the shoulders of these giants. We welcome and encourage any contribution to these tributes. To share your memories or anecdotes, please email us, support@g4gfoundation.org
