Wayfinding Resources

The Koan Plaza (offsite on Saturday, April 9) and Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons (Mark Burstein’s talk on Thursday, April 7) are a short distance to the northeast, and the Instructional Center (Ingrid Daubechies’ talk on Saturday, April 9) is a short distance to the northwest. A campus map is available at https://map.gatech.edu

The Koan Plaza is not marked on the campus map, but it is the green area to the north of the Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons, where there is a white dot, which is the site of a large abstract sculpture visible from a distance.

  • A. IF YOU ARE DRIVING, note that there is no legal parking at the turn-around on 4th St. The closest public parking to all the locations for G4G is in the Student Center Visitor Area 2, located at 353 Ferst Dr NW, Atlanta, GA 30313.
  • B. IF YOU TRAVEL BY RIDE-SHARE, the Koan Plaza and Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons are both adjacent to 266 4th St NW, Atlanta, GA 30313. The address of the Instructional Center is nominally 759 Ferst Drive, but it does not abut a public street. Instead, have the driver leave you at the ISyE Main Building at 755 Ferst Dr, and walk behind it; there is an open enclosure surrounded by the ISyE Main Building, the Instructional Center, and a third building.
  • C. IF YOU TRAVEL BY MARTA TRAIN AND THE ‘Stinger’ CAMPUS SHUTTLE:
Exit Ritz-Carlton on Peachtree and turn LEFT. Go two blocks to the Peachtree Center station. Take any train heading NORTH. Get off at the THIRD station, which is Midtown. Exit at Peachtree Place on the south side of the station.

All G4G14 locations are reachable on the campus GOLD Stinger route, a.k.a. the Tech Trolley. The trolley runs every 36 minutes on Saturdays. On weekdays all locations are also reachable by the BLUE and RED Stinger routes, and service is frequent until 6:00 pm, tapering off after that time.

The Gold route trolley runs between the Midtown MARTA station (stopping on Peachtree Place, which is on the south side of the station) and the campus Transit Hub. A map is available at https://pts.gatech.edu/sites/default/files/images/2020_gt_dt_bus_routes_f.pdf

The Koan Plaza and the Clough Undergraduate Learning Commons are a 3-minute walk from the shuttle stop in front of the Klaus Building at a bend in Ferst Drive. If you walk due south from that stop and go up some steps leading into a tunnel through the Architecture Building, the Koan Plaza will be visible to the right after you emerge on the other side of the tunnel, look out for the large abstract sculpture. The Koan Plaza is also a short distance to the north of the Transit Hub.

The Instructional Center is located about 1 minute to the east of the shuttle stop at the Student Health Center. Walk behind the ISyE Main Building and enter the Instructional Center from the open enclosure there. (The Student Health Center stop is near the large Student Athletic Center.)
