Short Bio:Alissa’s enthusiastic ability to share and communicate mathematics has earned her national recognition by the Mathematical Association of America with the Hasse Prize for expository writing and the Alder Award for distinguished teaching. She is dedicated to engaging a wide variety of audiences to increase their appreciation and enthusiasm for her discipline through interactive presentations. She generates excitement about math in settings that range from the National Math Festival in Washington DC and the National Museum of Mathematics in New York City to “Nerd Nite Los Angeles” and K-12 public school classrooms. When not enticing others with the beauty of mathematics you can find her rehearsing with the Santa Monica College Wind Ensemble or on her quest to find the spiciest salsa in LA.
