I am a 10th Grade Geometry teacher and my students have never heard of Martin Gardner. I will be teaching them about him and his works and how mathematicians celebrate his birthday. We’ll be doing hexaflexagons and mobius strips. Maybe a card trick or two as well. It will take place during school so it will be 6, one-hour mini-celebrations for the 6 class periods I have.
