Friday News Feb 21: Weekly Socials, February CoM

  • G4G Weekly Socials

Our weekly Socials are held on Saturday at 1 pm Atlanta time (check the time for you here).

We are using the Zoom Meeting platform here (not Zoom Webinar as we do for our monthly CoM presentations on the 21st). So for these Saturday socials we will all be able to see each other.

    Upcoming Sessions:

Sat 22 FebMoMath 2.0: A New Dimension for the National Museum of Mathematics
Take a brief “tour” of MoMath 2.0 with Executive Director and CEO Cindy Lawrence.

We welcome theme suggestions for the G4G Weekend Socials. Would you like to lead such a social, perhaps with a fresh look at a favorite Martin Gardner column (or book)? A  piece on critical thinking? A miscellaneous theme? Please contact us.

All information can be found here.

  • February Virtual Celebration of Mind (CoM)

Today Friday, February 21, at 12 noon ET, Atlanta Local Time, we return for another Virtual Celebration of mind. The title of this month’s presentation is “Algebra and Serendipity: The Beautiful Mathematics of vZome” by Scott Vorthmann. This presentation will happen on Zoom Webinar. We’ll also meet in another Zoom Room, where everyone will be able to see each other, right after this presentation.

  • G4G15 Videos

As for past G4Gn videos of the flash talks presented at the Gathering will be shared publicly on the web. We are uploading new videos weekly to our YouTube channel. You can find the latest videos here.

  • G4G Tributes

It is with sadness that G4G notes the passing of long time G4G community member Adam Atkinson on Dec 8, 2024.

We continue to update and maintain multiple tribute pages. In this we hope to honour and remember the many who have made the G4G community the remarkable group it is. As well as to inspire and connect those who build on the shoulders of these giants. We welcome and encourage any contribution to these tributes. To share your memories or anecdotes, please email us, support@g4gfoundation.org
